Tragedy strikes the Batman's life again when Robin Jason Todd tracks down his birth mother only to run afoul of the Joker. An adaptation of the 1988 comic book storyline of the same name.
After waiting years for another DC Showcase I wasn't disappointed all of them were fantastic, the big one however was the "Death in the Family" short, which for me is kinda mixed. I liked that it tied back into Under the Red Hood (which is one of my favorite DC animated movies) and giving us multiple options to decide the outcome was fun not to mention a great call back to the original comic where he reader got to decide Robin's fate. But with that said I would have preferred a direct adaptation of the original story in the traditional movie length. Plus I really wanted to hear Jensen Ackles as Red Hood again don't get me wrong Vincent Martella is amazing but when it comes to the grown up Jason/Red Hood Jensen is the only voice that is suited for that character. Still I loved this compilation of new DC Showcase shorts, and even though Death in the Family has some missed opertunities it was still fine and I still enjoyed watching it.
